Flying Mango
About Us
In case you've been wondering, Flying Mango began catering and doing farmers' markets under this same name way back in 1997. The restaurant came about simply because the space became available and Suzanne & Mike weren't thinking clearly.
The approach to the menu was easy. We had no interest in trying to reinvent food. We went with choices that were popular catering requests -- basic, down-home style -- just from a wide range of regions. We are known for our generous portions of BBQ, Southern, Cajun/Creole meals, plus a touch of Caribbean fun. We will tell you now - save room for dessert!
Flying Mango is super proud to be able to use the phrase "as seen on Diners, Drive-ins & Dives". We are even more proud to have all the friendships that have developed over time inside these "mythic fire"-painted, HC Porter-adorned walls. A double measure of gratitude to the mango fans who have continued to patronize us while we all explore the "restaurant pandemic journey". We will be rubbing elbows again on the inside soon enough.
Oh, and if you have NOT been to Flying Mango, well, here are a few things you should know. We don't take ourselves overly seriously. Our staff has just the right amount of sass. You'll know you are almost there because you will smell that smoker blocks away. We serve a mean Sazerac. We like bourbon. If you think you don't like grits or greens, ours will change your mind. Be prepared to get called out if you are looking at your phones instead of your dining companions. Foodies from Texas, Louisiana and Tennessee do not scare us. AND we intend for you to have the BEST TIME while hanging out with us.
